Traveled with children

We decided to brave a trip to Europe with our 2 small children in tow ages 1 and 3. There was absolutely no way we were going to do this without getting the largest room on the ship so that we could have some sort of sanity. We booked the Penthouse Suite and amazing it was. Because of the fact that we had two small children with us we ate almost every breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining room of our suite. The staff were very accommodating to us and our children. Because of the average age group of the passengers there wasn't a lot of competition in the child activity area of the ship. I believe we saw one other set of brave parents that brought their kids. We were very happy with the itinerary and the fact that there were some at sea days to completely relax. I was a little disappointed in Celebrity as we had it built up in our mind that it was a little nicer ship i.e. food, rooms, the public spaces. There were several areas that I thought the ship seamed pretty worn down, including our suite.

Penthouse Suite

Cabin PS

We have stayed in several exclusive suites before on cruise lines and I was a little disappointed that they did not have any type of priority embarkation or debarkation. I know that may sound a little snooty but there are definite perks to some of the nicer rooms on ships. I also didn't feel that the butler was fit for taking care of the room that he did. Again, it may sound snooty, but there is a service level you come to expect. I think the annoyance for me was that we had been on far less expensive cruises that the level of service was higher. The suite design though was great. We had two small children and it was very conducive to our setup. The kitchen/butler area was great. The room needed a little TLC though. The decorating accessories had been hot glued to the cabinets to keep them from rolling around, very tacky. The woodwork and upholstery was very worn. The deck was so amazing and absolutely huge. There did seem to be a sewer smell at the entry of the room as I think there is a mechanical closet right in front of the room (or a really stinky neighbor). Overall we were pleased with the room and it fit our needs.
