We had five incredible days and nights aboard The Royal Caribbean Navigator of The Seas. Our trip was tragically cut short. We were notified of an impending death in the family within hours, on Thursday night. Up until that time our cruise was perfect. We had the best cruise mates in our close friends, five other couples who joined us, and the best sea days. We also had the best Room Steward, Wilbur on deck 9 and the most attentive Sapphire Dining Room Waiters, Jaun and Salim who served delicious meals and always made us fee so special. We especially love the dining room because you get to know your waiters and vice versa. Ladies Salim was from Istanbul, and resembled a gorgeous young Yul Brenner. Because it was our 40th anniversary cruise my husband had purchased a romance package. Seeing Roatan, Maya Key was incredible. Our group snorkeled in crystalline waters full of fish. Lots of exotic animals, lazy sun tanning and Mayan history. The included lunch was delicious. Thursday was Belize and OMG the ancient Mayan Lamanai Ruins and the long trip are indescribable as far as beauty, history and experience. We truly lucked out because our tour guide was an instructor at the university. He had notebooks full of Mayan language he had personally deciphered from the statuary, stella, and pyramids. Only five of seven hundred sites have been unearthed at Lamanai. Unlike Chitsinitsa, you can climb this pyramid to the top. The steps are typically short but have huge depth as far as height.
When we did get the tragic news. Royal Caribbean was wonderful. Albert handled everything for us. We had internet for purchasing airline tickets, and ship to shore at the desk to talk with family.. All these charges were removed from our bill. By early Friday we went to an onboard immigration agent, were cleared to leave each charged twenty six extra dollars apiece and were on our way across Mexico to Cozumel airport. One sad note We paid for pictures that were erased when we turned in our ship card to quickly disembark. Luckily we linked our photos to one of the group, because they could not bring theirs up. Our folder was empty by Saturday Another friend found the photographer and saved a group and dinning room shot. We were suppose to get a silver frame with our Romance PKG and that got erased. Our friend fought valiantly to get us our frame. This cruise was wonderful in spite of a few glitches. If you had an emergency like we did, Royal Caribbean is wonderful to you. Nothing is perfect, but this cruise came close.
The largest couch I ever had in a balcony room. Excellent balcony. Wonderful room.
