I had heard people rave about how wonderful these river cruises were with Viking. Unfortunately, for the amount of money we paid, I was rather disappointed. I will start with the positive: The people who worked aboard the ship were terrific, the food was incredible, the excursions were extraordinary, and the scenery on the river was out of this world. My husband and I went during early June and the temperatures were anywhere from 75-80 F(perfect) so there is not reason why we were hot aboard the ship the majority of the time. I was uncomfortable at times during the night and during dinner. Secondly, the advertisement for Viking is that everything is inclusive. That's true if you are happy with one included excursion per day which was over by lunch time at 12:30. After lunch you could do one of 3 things: 1) Take a nap, 2) Get off the ship by yourself and explore but sometimes you were not near the city center, 3) Or PAY for another excursion which is what we did if we wanted something to do during the afternoon. I was also disappointed with the all inclusive beer and wine during lunch and dinner. The wine was terrible and cheap! They served cheap wine from Australia on a European river cruise. So my husband and I opted to buy an additional wine package for the two of us. Also, their is no evening entertainment that is good so basically you can hang out at the bar after dinner, go to your room at 8:30, or go for an evening stroll(and again you may not be at a city center). Our room was also a box. I have never stayed in such a small room on a ship before.

I'm not saying there weren't beautiful and exquisite parts to this river cruise but Viking should not advertise "all inclusive" when it really isn't up to superior standards for what you pay.
