My husband and I just returned from a 10-night cruise tour on the AmaSonata, with AMA Waterways, in Eastern Europe. We chose a cruise tour that began with 3 days/nights in Prague. Both the land pre-cruise portion, and the cruise itself, were outstanding in every way. Prague is colorful, lively, musical, artistic and fairytale-like with its historic buildings and joie de vivre.
We also visited small towns in Bavaria, Germany, the wine region river valley of the the Wachau in Austria; and the cities of Vienna and Budapest. Our tour guides throughout were informative, hard-working, intelligent and knew just how to bring each location to life, and often with limited time. Our stateroom, which had both a balcony and French Balcony, was spacious, giving us that special quiet place to sit and read and watch the world go by. The crew was most welcoming and hospitable throughout our stay. Kata, our cruise manager, appeared to work overtime to make sure all passengers were enjoying their experience. The cuisine was always a delight, with local specialties reflecting the regions, included daily. Specialty dining was available and offered a quiet, more intimate venue at the rear of the vessel, and again providing topnotch offerings. I loved my massage, available from Alina, who also served as the hairdresser, flower-arranger...quite a multi-tasker. Nighttime entertainment was available for those who seek live performers, often showing off their local folklore in music and dance. One highlight for us was a concert in Vienna at Auersperg Palace. I just can't say enough about how pleased we were with the trip on this state-of-the-art ship!!!
