This is the first cruise my wife and I have done in many years. I thoroughly checked it out on the reviews and I am glad I did. I believe this to be an honest and accurate opinion. To begin with, the embarkation was really smooth. They have got that one down to a science. No wait at all. There was a technical problem on board so we had to wait in the boarding area longer than usual. No big deal. When they gave us the green light, it was less than 5 minutes.

We were totally awed at the amount of things to do and places to eat. So here we go, I will do the room in a separate part of this review. I think this should be experienced by all at least once. The shows were absolutely fabulous except the Headliner show which was really weak even though the ships band was superb. The food in the buffet was less than I expected, in fact they should get a new chef. It is bland and tasteless. It's like the food was made with no gluten and no salt to please the public. Sure did not please me. The main dining room was another story. Very good and the service was excellent. No crowds except after the show. We had a balcony room next to the elevators. No noise at all and made it great to get to our room. Impossible to get lost in-spite of the size. The dress up nights are to get you to take photos. I just bought a Nikon SLR so you can ask a waiter or anybody to take your photo. They will almost always be more than happy to help. It is like a family. Those photo packages can run you up to 6 or 700 dollars and they photographers are hiding in every corner. The other thing that was my grip and I understand it is true on all cruises is the internet prices. They are ludicrous. $187 for the entire cruise. or $30 per hour. It is better to wait until you get to port and use an internet cafe on land. St. Thomas is the USA so your cell phone works fine there. I have T Moble. The Superior Ocean Balcony was our choice and for me it was the high point. Nothing beats sitting on the balcony watching the ocean go by with a dish of ice cream or a drink. That was the best part. Our cabin attendant Vondie was the best and you could want no more from an attendant. We were in 6266 and it was great.

Bring money or cards with plenty of limit, you will need it. They nickel and dime you to death. They even charge you a gratuity on certain things you buy. Surprise on the bill. The disembarkation was fast. If you need to get off, just use the express but you have to take your bags with you. Less than 10 minutes. Express is only between 6:30 and 8:00, (so they said) You have time to enjoy your last breakfast. I highly recommend it but I would like to move on. Perhaps Celebrity. My last thoughts are that while the majority were OK, several of the employees need to work on their people skills. A little on the snappy side. Their computer systems are the worst. My cruise was $3000. I got a bill for $468 and then another one for $44,000. At then end, I checked off to receive my closing bill by e mail. I never got it and had to call. By all means, get a copy before you leave the ship.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D8

The cabin was excellent. When you look down over the balcony, you see only ocean and not window washing equipment or life boats. It was just great. I spent a good deal of time on my balcony, even at night. I think that is what I will most remember. It was clean, new, modern but small. If you are a fanatic for space, perhaps a Jr. Suite will work better for you. This was fine for us. If you have two big suitcases, you will have problems storing them. There is plenty of space, drawers, closest, etc. Problem is storing the bags. Our attendant was the best. We paid the up front tips on our payment but we gave her a good tip at the end. She was really on the ball. I asked for ice and since then, there was ice every day. Getting a room near elevators is fine as there is no noise at all and it helps make it easy to find your room. If not, you have to wask the length of the ship to your cabin. It is a long ship, trust me.
