This was our first cruise and it blew us away! From the moment we embarked the crew were exemplary in their attitude and were so welcoming. We had a great time, enjoying delicious food in relaxed and comfortable surroundings.

The weather was appalling on arrival - we had to wait 30 minutes before we could briskly walk across to the quay to the ship - and setting sail was into rough Med seas. Not a great intro to our first cruise :) And to be honest the weather through the cruise was below what we had hoped for, and Captain Carl admitted it was not really very good! But hey the ship and its crew have no control over this - but what they have control over they undertook with real pride and care. The service from the room team, to the entertainment and the restaurant staff was exemplary.

We loved the open dining arrangements, the non-formal but not shabby dress code in the evening, the quality and selection of the food, and the complimentary drinks were great. The house wines each day were good, really no need to choose any other, and the choice of spirits and cocktails more than enough for us. Beer choice was minimal and primarily aimed at Americans and so I enjoyed a week without :)

Cabin Review

Cabin SV

Our room was on Deck 7 at the front of the ship - facing forwards not on the side. It is a standard Veranda room with a slightly larger veranda. Being at the front has its drawbacks and benefits - it pitches more in choppy/rough seas and is noisier from the wind when underway. I have read reviews where people complain about the ropes/anchor when arriving/departing from port - but actually we really enjoyed watching the crew at work. A benefit is that you can see where you are going - obviously better when it is not dark and given that Azamara prides itself on late departures this is frequently in the dark! It is a quiet room with regard to the footfall passing your room. And finally Edwin and Jose were wonderful room attendants.
