My DH and I have cruised many times, 6 of those on NCL, and this was our 3rd on the Dawn. This was our 30th anniversary cruise, so we upgraded to an owners suite. A whole new experience from a smaller suite. We were anxious about our destination as a hurricane was due to hit the same day we arrived. However, when we got to the port, our destination had been changed and we went to Nassau for one day, and their private island for one day. I will say we are good sailors, and didn't mind a little rough weather. In fact we love it. We've sailed in rough weather twice before, and contrary to other reviewers, we KNEW the ship was never in danger. The Captain made the correct decision for the safety of his passengers, and a change due to weather is always possible when you cruise.
The embarkation was handled smoothly, and we were taken to our suite 10506. I will say sailing in the owners suite is a game changer. We bought the UDP as we never intended to eat in the MDR. Also, my DH likes to eat in the suite, and we had a few meals delivered by our wonderful butler, Marc. He made the cruise so special, as well as the cabin steward. Both lovely men. Our concierge was Virginia, and she was a delight! We also ate in Moderno, Cagneys for breakfast and lunch, and Le Bistro.
I was in charge of the CC M&G and the entire staff did a great job providing us with a cash bar, and complimentary refreshments. The entire group of officers came to speak to us, and made it a lively event. Marc also served complimentary beverages and food in our suite as we were the last cabin in our cabin crawl.
We loved our suite, but it needs a serious facelift. The bed was the exception, it was wonderful.
