This was our first NCL cruise. I read every review up until our cruise on 10/02/14. This was our 20th cruise, 15 of which were on Carnival. There were positives and negatives in the reviews so we knew to go with an open mind. There is no way to make every person happy, there are a lot of people out there who are just chronic complainers. From our point of view there are pluses and minuses to this cruise. There were 4 of us celebrating my 50th birthday, ages from ranged from 50 to 68 years old.

We loved the ship, there are a lot of areas to stop and have a drink inside and out. The only thing we did miss was live entertainment in these areas. We only saw live entertainment at one bar, not including the night time entertainment in the clubs. By the way the dueling pianos were a lot of fun. We only made it there one night but totally enjoyed them. We also bought the ultimate drink package and for us was well worth it. Top shelf vodka, like Belvedere and Grey Goose included.

We went to the Illusionarium show, which got a lot of bad reviews. The show at times was a little tacky, but over all we enjoyed it. The food was GREAT!!! I was very surprised, as there were a lot of bad reviews about the food in this show. The steak was tender and the shrimp was crispy and all of it was hot. Not one time did the servers interrupt the show while serving. If you make your reservations for the first night you get a discount. I don't know about any other night, but we got a credit on our account for $6.00 per person.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Large Balcony

Cabin M6

I was pleasantly surprised by the cabin, again a lot of bad reviews. The shower is the biggest shower I ever saw on a ship. The trough sink was awesome. I did a lot of research for this cruise to figure out which cabin and where I wanted to be. We loved deck 8 because the bars and the waterfront were right there. I also found on Utube videos of a cabin similar to ours which was nice. The closets are plenty big, trust me I always over pack and I brought along extra hangers that I didn't need. The only thing I did miss having was drawers, but I used the drawer under the sofa, it worked fine. Our cabin had the sofa by the closet instead of the bed which made it much easier to access. Take note of the floor plans, if you want the same layout with the bed is by the window/sliding door then watch for niche in the floor plan that is by the window/slider and not in the center of the room. We took along one of those folding hampers for dirty clothes, worked like a charm. Much better than having dirty clothes in piles. Yes the balcony's are small that is why I was glad we chose these cabins. They balcony's are much deeper than the other balcony's. We had 2 lounge chairs a table and 2 chairs. If you haven't booked yet get one of these cabins. Yes the people above can look down on you, but they look down with envy. As long as your dressed who cares!!!
