My wife and I have just returned from a 7 day cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas on a Southern Caribbean itinerary for our 25th anniversary and all I can say is “WOW!” We have cruised on Norwegian and Carnival prior to this but Royal Caribbean is by far the nicest cruise I have ever taken! Anyone worried about the reviews of this ship that say the Jewel is getting old can put their fears at rest! The ship is a beautiful, classy, well maintained vessel that evokes visions of elegance and sparkle and is a joy to behold! From the moment the shuttle picked us up at the Hilton Caribe in Puerto Rico to take us to the Pan American Pier, we knew we were in good hands. I booked a pre-cruise stay at the Caribe through Royal Caribbean and it was fabulous! They upgraded me to an Ocean View room upon check in and the hotel restaurant was spectacular for breakfast in the morning! We took a drive on the evening prior to our embarkation day with a cab driver to Old San Juan and had dinner at the Café Puerto Rico which was very quaint and local feeling and the food and drink and service were outstanding! I strongly recommend this place over some of the more commercial eateries around San Juan.

The check in on the Jewel was a breeze and within 15-20 minutes, we were on board and having a tropical drink at the Pool Bar! The ship is absolutely stunning from a décor standpoint. Rich blues and wood tones dominate and the Centrum is 9 stories of coolness! Every club on board is open and inviting and all of the bartenders and wait staff are courteous and friendly!

Dinners in the MDR (The Tides) was like dining at a fine gourmet restaurant every night and our servers Oleksander and Borko were at the top of their game! Every night they attended to our every need and were the friendliest! Royal Caribbean’s excellent service record was certainly evident on the Jewel!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E3

Our room was 7080, a balcony stateroom which was listed as a partially obstructed view but the only obstruction was the roof of the lifeboat storage below us so you couldn’t look straight down. The balcony itself was perfect for two! Two chairs and a table were perfect for our morning room service of coffee, fruit, and occasionally breakfast! We were watching the sun come up every morning! As far as the room itself, it was nicely sized for two. There was plenty of storage space and compartments everywhere to stow things! The bed was large (queen size) and comfortable and our room attendant (Samy) was friendly greeting my wife and I by name every time he saw us! Everything we asked for from him was brought immediately with a smile! The bathroom was small but workable. Every aspect of the room was awesome! Even the location was perfect! Within steps of the elevators and the Centrum, it was simple and quick to get just about anywhere on the ship!
