We booked this cruise at the very last minute after deciding to grab a few days away in half-term. A 5 night trip fitted perfectly and the price was simply unbeatable. Was it worth it? Definitely, we had a great time on a nice ship with friendly efficient service, good food and a comfortable cabin. Better still the weather cooperated too.

We booked online and opted for Costa’s own transfer bus from Genoa airport. I really liked the fact that you could book a transfer without booking flights through Costa. Other options included transfers from Milan and Rome so this opened up the possibility of where we could fly from/to, different airline choices and therefore pricing. The transfer worked well, taking about 45 minutes and the terminal at Savona is lovely.

Embarking Costa is different from other lines we have sailed with; they board based on numbered boarding cards and you do all the formalities on board e.g. cruise card and registering your credit card. This worked well and other lines should note (we sailed with Princess in July and what a nightmare embarkation was with them).

Cabin Review

Cabin B1

A great cabin for a family as it was larger than we expected and laid out in such a way as to allow 2 adults and a teenage daughter to use the cabin in comfort. We particularly liked the fact that Costa ships have hinged doors on to the balcony. This meant the door sealed properly and there were no annoying whistles when it's windy outside. The cabin was otherwise quiet and well located with easy access to all parts of the ship.
