This was our third cruise; our first on Royal Caribbean. There were five adults in our party. The trip was a wonderful experience. It surpassed all of my expectations. There were intriguing activities available all day. In fact, the days were full of possibilities. We particularly enjoyed the ballroom dance lessons which were scheduled almost every day. There was a wide variety of live and DJ music available presenting many dance styles. The decades parties were amazing. The activities director, Ricky Mathews, was full of energy and a very talented MC and dancer. His second in command, Andre, and the rest of the staff were also full of fun and charm.
The cruise took place during the school year in mid October with a Northern itinerary. The majority of the passengers were over 50 and travelling without children. We loved the demographics. It was our first cruise without our children. The mature atmosphere on this Royal Caribbean cruise was a nice change and preferable to the younger vibe on the "fun ship" cruises we took on that other cruise company.
The ports of call were very welcoming and getting on and off the ship was painless.
Our room layout was typical ship shape and small. Because the weather was chilly we didn't miss the balcony. Our steward worked magic - any time we left our cabin we came back to a fresh clean bathroom and neat bed. I don't know how he did that, but we certainly appreciated it. I really didn't want a low floor but it was cozy and our forward cabin was away from the fray and was quiet.
