My wife and I sailed on the Carnival Dream out of New Orleans on October 19, 2014. We arrived a day early so that we could check out Bourbon Street and we were not impressed. It was a lot seedier than I expected and we can say we have been there but will probably not go back. Too many bars and strip clubs for our liking.

Embarkation on the Dream was typical and we were on the ship in about 45 minutes. I was playing in the Grand Finale Texas Holdem tournament and had a great time, very well run. I am hoping to play in next years tournament as well.

The ship was typical Carnival which means there is something for everyone and it is hard not to have a good time. The food is good but there was nothing that made me go Wow. Other reviews have mentioned the sewer smell and we also found that occasionally when walking down a hallway we could smell it. It was never overpowering or long lasting however.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4A

We always select an interior cabin as it provides the best value for the money. It is very spacious for 2 people with lots of closet space. Cabin 1457 is the very back cabin on deck 1 starboard side. The air conditioning did not work as well as expected, the room always seemed a little warmer than it should be. One night grey water was coming up the shower drain for about an hour but went right back down each time. The cabin is also located close enough to the stern thruster that each time we arrived in a Port we could hear them in use and it would wake us up.
