We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise, the people we met and the experiences we had along the way. I have read another review of this voyage and find it hard to believe that we were on the same ship and same itinerary with that person.
The only serious flaw we noted was the embarkation in San Francisco. There were clearly not enough Porters available to take Guests' bags. We were lucky -- our cab dropped us off directly in front of the porters and one grabbed the bags from the cab driver and had them on a trolley before we could protest that we were "cutting" a very long line. Once inside, the process was very smooth and we were immediately let on board.
After a short wait (And the first of many Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburgers!) we were in our cabin. See the Cabin Review below for details on that. We were VERY happy with our decision to splurge on a Sky Suite for this cruise.
Partly because of the length of this cruise we decided to splurge and book a Sky Suite. We did not regret that choice. There was plenty of room to move around and we were able to host several nice gatherings. Our Butler, "Easy" went out of his way to make sure that we always had what we needed for the parties -- shrimp plates, cheese and crackers, canapés were all beautifully presented. Our Cabin Attendant Mario and his Assistant Mistan were exceptional. The room was always made up when we returned to it. We would actually have liked to have had more interaction with them but they just did their magic and were gone!Century, as we all know, is 20 years old and will be leaving the fleet next year. There is some wear and tear showing but certainly not enough to cause discomfort, inconvenience or safety issues. Everything in our cabin functioned as it should and when it didn't (A bad switch for the bathroom light.) it was repaired within an hour. We had no problem with the plumbing although the tub/shower did drain a bit slowly. The only complaint we had about this cabin was the walking track above it. There are signs requesting that Guests use it ONLY for walking but there were a few (Aren't there always?) who took that to mean everyone except them.I would be cautious of choosing the four forward most cabins on this deck. The ping pong table has been set up in the Elevator Lobby and was in almost constant use and the noise did carry. It could be clearly heard in the passageway -- I'm not sure it if was noticeable in the cabins. I think this is a good place to mention the Chief Housekeeper, Michael. This man must have several twins because he was everywhere. Mention a smudge in the elevator and it's gone! I believe he is the senior Officer at Celebrity having started with Chandris. We miss his knuckle pumps at the evening social hour.
