My husband and I have sailed on numerous cruise lines and have enjoyed most of our trips. We liked this itinerary, met some wonderful people and generally had a good time. The ship is in desperate need of renovation. Dirty chairs and broken tables gave the ship an overall shabby look. The beds, instead of chairs, in the karaoke lounge were the weirdest thing. No one had anywhere to sit and no one wanted to lay on a bed in a lounge to listen to the singers. Activities were lacking in the evening. We did catch up on our sleep (in our stateroom -not in the karaoke lounge) and felt well rested when we docked. That's where the trouble began. I had read that after docking, taking a cab was the simplest way to get to the airport. WRONG. We arrived in port the last of three ships that morning. We were delayed 2hrs. getting off the ship. They actually had us lined up on the outside decks so the crew could clean the inside of the ship. When we finally went through customs we were told the taxi stand was across the street. Six lanes of NYC traffic. It was pouring down rain. We were shocked to see about 300 people standing in the rain -no cover overhead, waiting for taxis. There was one taxi in the line. We tried everything to get a taxi -walked several blocks away from the area. We attempted to hail every cab we saw which were all full. We were extremely lucky that an Uber driver saw us and stopped. Lesson learned. Do not rely on a cab. Our driver told us because of the rain and that we were the last ship docked there were no cabs in the area at all.
The cabin was fine. Beds were comfortable. Needed some refurbishing - stained carpet and couch. Walls could use some touch up.
