The new Norwegian Getaway is a beautiful ship. The 3 story chandelier and lit up staircases are really lovely. Some of the restaurants and bars are really creative and cool. There are three things though that take away from its beauty. It feels extremely crowded a lot, there are not enough elevators for the number of people and the smoking from the Casino on Deck 7 permeates through the 3 floors of the open atrium area ... decks 6, 7 and 8 where the specialty restaurants are.

I am not sure if it is because it is new or what the deal is, but they seem to have a real problem with the luggage on this ship. I waited over 7 hours to get my bag with all my clothes and cosmetics. The guest service staff seemed not at all surprised, and there only recourse was to tell me I could have laundry service (what was I to wear when I was getting this service) and to give me a bag with a toothbrush and a few other amenities. They also offered me a Tshirt to sleep in. I was at guest services 7 times in 7 hours as they kept moving the time when they would actually really look for my bag. First it was 5pm, then 6pm, then 7pm, then 8pm and they tried to tell me the next day ... that is when I finally asked to speak to their Miami office as I wanted to know my rights as I had their insurance. They refused to give me a copy of the lost luggage report and told me I would get it at the end of the cruise. They seemed unclear at the desk whether I could go buy things like makeup and makeup remover, so I finally reached corporate. Five minutes in to my call with their office, they found my bag. They said my paper tag had come off, but they were able to identify my bag by its unique description and the fact it had a tag clearly stating my name on it. It just seems there is nobody in charge to really check the luggage properly.

In my search on the 12th floor where my cabin was located, I found over the course of the 5 hours I was looking for my bag, 8 other pieces of luggage in the forward area with numbers for 12th floor aft. Four times I asked the cabin stewards in the area to please take the bags to the cabins they belonged in. They all had tags and were clearly marked. When one bag sat outside my room for over 5 hours, I finally went down to the room that the bag belonged to, knocked on the door. It was answered by a young guy holding a baby. I asked him if he was missing a piece of luggage and he said yes, and I told him where to find it.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B3

Cabin is laid out well with the bed near the closet. The large sofa is probably good if you have a third person in the room to sleep on it. For me being in the room alone, I did not find it comfortable to sit on and it took up a lot of space. The area for personal items with the hairdryer etc. is well laid out. The balcony was tiny with 2 chairs and a very small table. The bathroom is fine with a good size shower. Only problem is if you don't like to hold the shower head (and I don't) ... it is positioned much too close to the wall to make taking a shower comfortable. The room has excellent storage and is very nice looking. Bed was comfortable.
