14 years ago we were on a river cruise and decided to go back and do another one with friends we met 14 years ago!! We've done many ocean cruises during that time. We took the pre-cruise extension from Zurich and had wonderful warm weather and it didn't get cool until the Rhine Gorge. Karen Bies the Cruise Director is indefatigable and always smiling. She was very helpful to everyone. We used the Gentle Walkers shore excursion section as I had a second knee replacement and the cobblestones aren't walker friendly. There were only 8 of us in the group, but the tour leaders were patient with us and gave great information. The evening entertainment was quite nice, however we had a group of 35+ Canadians who were rather rude and talked throughout the evening, despite severe looks from the singers.

Food was plentiful and although not always hot in the chafing dishes at the end of the meals, there was a good selection for everyone. Danilo in Elibnis, the specialty restaurant, was a delight and we suggest you make reservations when you first board the ship. I had a birthday on board and the crew walked in with sparklers, plus a big one on the cake. VERY festive!!

Disembarkation was a breeze! We used the ship's transfer to the airport and it was worth the cost as someone helped us get to the right desk for check in and helped with the bags.

Cabin Review

Cabin Suite

Cabin size was what we were used to on the ocean cruises and was very comfortable. Bathroom had a tub and a great shower-with all kinds of special buttons for rain shower, hand held, massage, etc. There is no balcony per se, but we liked having the option of opening the sliding door to see what the weather was like. We were on Violin deck, the highest one, and did find that some heavy footed people walked on the Sun Deck at late and early hours, although there is no jogging at that time. Great deck going through the locks.
