My wife and I did the Danube (Nuremberg – Budapest) cruise, 27 April – 4 May, and had an absolutely brilliant time. It was our first Viking cruise, and our first river cruise, but it certainly won’t be our last. I have to congratulate Viking on getting everything right, from our pre-holiday pack to the flights home.

I had high expectations for the trip, and they were all met or exceeded. The ship (Freya) was beautifully fitted out, and our stateroom was very comfortable and superbly maintained by Monika. In fact, the staff were uniformly excellent, a credit to Viking’s recruitment and training procedures. Even the tour guides, not Viking employees, were excellent, providing expert, entertaining commentaries, and always able to answer any questions thrown at them.

We had been told that the food would be good, and we weren’t disappointed – always a good choice of dishes, with accompanying wines, and attentive service. We also enjoyed getting to know more of our fellow-passengers than on an ocean cruise.

Cabin Review

Beautifully furnished and maintained.
