We did not know what to expect. We chose this cruise 18 months beforehand largely for the itinerary. We are Elite on Celebrity and had never cruised on a ship of this size before. In short, we are ruined. It is hard for me to imagine going back to Celebrity after this trip. It was amazing. Simply incredible.

Embarkation in Venice was a breeze. It was our fourth trip to VCE but our first cruise from it. We used a water taxi to transport our luggage to the hotel and to the pier and that was much easier than trying to squeeze onto a crowded vaporetto. We stayed in a small B &B in Santa Croce, our favorite neighborhood in VCE. It was called Ca' San Giorgio and we've also had great luck at Campiello Zen in the same area. Prices are very reasonable and the service is fantastic.

We were checked in and onto the ship in 5 minutes. We checked in late, probably around 3 because we wanted to enjoy Venice longer. We were in a Club Continent suite. The room was larger than I anticipated. It was spotless. We met our butler and our luggage arrived soon after we wandered the ship. We struggled to find Specialty Dining times that worked with our schedule. Also, it would have been nice to know what the theme nights for the buffet were going to be when booking speciality dining. We were unable to get a reservation unless it was 615PM or 830PM, which was an initial disappointment. (more on specialty dining later.) I assumed it was because we arrived to the ship late but we met a couple who arrived at 1130 and had the same problem. We at at Prime C once and Aqualina once. I did not care for Prime C at all and would have rather eaten at the buffet which was always great. They screwed up my order, bringing me the wrong entree, and their wine list and advice from the waiter was uninspired. She recommended the most expensive bottle, which would NOT have gone with my meal (had I gotten the right one.) We are used to Celebrity's fantastic specialty dining, so this was a little setback. However, later in the cruise we dined at Aqualina and it was truly wonderful!
