Sail Date: Oct 2014
Cabin: Junior Suite

This cruise for 5 days was to Key West and Grand Cayman, and was not up to the usual (low they may be) standards of RCI.

Embarkation in Port Everglades was fine, as was my Junior Suite which I had purchased when they were priced lower than a balcony cabin. As always I enjoy the Concierge Lounge and the Concierge "MJ" did all that he could to be responsive to all. There were 14 other Pinnacle members other than myself aboard. Dining Room and the usual, never changing RCI menu was as usual. Ship was full. Captain was more generous with "information" than some other Captain's are. Usual sloppy Boat Drill.

Much has been said about RCI's "rejuvenation" of their older ships such as this one; however it appears that most of the monies spent went for conversion of spaces formerly "free", to space for new Revenue producing spaces. Library has disappeared and now is nothing more than 3 bookcase located near Ben and Jerry's. Part of Viking Crown is now Izumi Asian Restaurant, Diamond Lounge now intrudes into Schooner Bar etc. Cabins for close to 200 additional passengers have been "shoehorned" aboard, many times in what were in the past open passenger spaces e.g. lounges, Library, etc.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

The usual RCI Junior Suite - larger area, bath with tub/shower, upgraded toiletries. This was a JS on the stern and so balcony was substantially larger than other JS balconies and easily had room for 2 sun loungers, 2 chairs and a table.
