WELL I guess I can be considered an experienced cruiser. This was my fourth cruise with Carnival and I have also cruised a few times with both Holland America and Princess. I tend to have lowered expectations for Carnival cruises, as I do not think they typically live up to the experience on other lines. I was particularly approaching this cruise with lowered expectations due to the cost and reviews I had read about the ship and the Port of Charleston.

Let me first say that I traveled with five other girls and we are all between the ages of 24 and 26. We decided to take a girl's trip last year and we found this cruise for $259 per person before taxes and fees. YOU JUST CAN"T BEAT THAT. When you couple that with the fact that we live in NC so our travel time to Charleston was less than 3 hours, you really really can't beat it. I still was a little nervous due to the reviews I had read.

Let me put some of your fears to rest. This is NOT subpar when comparing it to other carnival cruises. To be honest, it FAR exceeded my expectations especially in the areas of food, service, and entertainment. I did not go to any of the big revue type shows because that just isn't really something our group was interested in...but the comedy shows were HILARIOUS!! Much more entertaining than any ship I've been on. In addition, we were INCREDIBLY impressed by the live music options. There was a country singer onboard named Trent Mayo who was truly talented in ever sense of the word. He plays almost every night and should not be missed! Another pleasant surprise was DAT BAND....We actually were so impressed by the talent that we went up and talked to them after one of their sets and discovered that they have only been playing together for 3 months. I can't even describe how good they are other than to say that I still don't have a voice 2 days after getting home because of screaming for them. They play an 80s, Woodstock, country, and Motown set as well as a total request set at the end of the cruise. DO NOT MISS ONE OF THEIR SHOWS if you are into live music. Honestly , they were not only one of my favorite parts of this cruise but one of my favorite parts of any cruise I've ever been on...
