We have just returned from a cruise on the P&O Oceana. We couldn't believe the hygiene standards at the Plaza buffet restaurant. Firstly they encourage you to sanitise your hands but when you find a table to sit down on it's filthy. No plates are cleared quick enough. No tables were seen being wiped down. There was residue food from the last diners, food on the floor and in some instance's on the chairs.

The waiters were just congregating at food stations in large groups having a good old laugh!! Sometimes at a passengers expense. My husband noticed the supervisors were doing the same, the was no delegating at all. My husband went over an pointed these problems out. No sooner had he done this we had waiters running over an wiping our table but sadly with a dirty sponge from a slop bucket, so what was the point? Its just spreading germs, no spray was in use.we were also stared at the whole time as the supervisor had pointed us out! We told reception who agreed with us as she had been receiving the same complaint. Later that day we had a call from the senior restaurant manager who was wining on about having 3000 passengers onboard!! We didn't want to hear this we wanted it sorted.

The most terrible that happened to my husband was on the same day at the evening meal. He asked for a glass of wine for me only to be told he was being refused alcohol. He was horrified as others were looking etc he asked why and the wine waiter said he didn't know. The restaurant manager didn't know either, my husband went to reception they didn't know either as his credit was good!! After a ruined meal we were expected to laugh it off as the senior bar manager said she had not shown the wine waiter the correct person it was her fault, apparently it was meant for the gentleman behind us that was intoxicated!! How dare they make that mistake at such a senior level. She offered us only a glass of wine, I wanted to tip it on her head!!! She thought it wasn't a big deal, how unprofessional! She must of realised she made a big mistake as she phoned us the next day offering a bottle of wine!!! Bit late a ruined meal an humiliation!!! Never again
