Sail Date: Feb 2007

My husband and I (ages 55 and 53) cruised on the February 17 sailing of the Star Princess. We flew down the night before and stayed in the Comfort Suites, Davie. It is a clean and well-run hotel. Our flight was delayed and we didn't make it to the hotel till 2AM. The desk clerk offered us a late check out of 1PM and we gratefully accepted it. There was a shuttle available but we opted for a cab. We got to the ship at 1:45 and were in our cabin at 2PM. We have sailed on Princess 4 times and this was our fastest embarkation.

Our mini suite was great. The balcony was uncovered and I loved it. Interestingly I saw very few people out on the balconies. Many mornings I could only see 2 or 3 other passengers on the nearby balconies. Many people have commented on the smell on the Star from the balconies. I never smelled it. William from the Philippines was our room steward. He was great! The room was immaculate. Anything we asked for was given to us immediately and with a smile. I will comment however that the cruise line needs to do something about the air conditioning in the cabins. I felt that it was barely comfortable even though we always kept the balcony doors and drapes closed.

We did anytime dining and never waited for a table. We ate at around 8 every night and always sat at large tables. We met some wonderful people that we ended up going on shore excursions with. The best part of anytime dining is that you meet lots and lots of other passengers. The food was very good and comparable to a land resort. We did not do the formal nights. On those two nights we ate in the Horizon Court. For breakfasts we either ate in the dining room or had room service. At lunch we grabbed a burger or pizza or we ate in the dining room.
