We have cruised on The Splendor before, when it was cruising the Western Mexico coast. It was fairly new then and seems to have held up just fine! Boarded in New York, which went fairly smoothly. We flew to Newark and caught Carnival transportation to the port. . (The cruisers on this trip seemed to be more of the retiree/older genre, so it was a little less of a party atmosphere than on some Carnival ships I've sailed on).

Since we were traveling with a group, we didn't participate in a great deal of activities onboard. We did take in the nightly entertainment in the main theatre and a couple of the late evening comedy shows. All were enjoyable. Some of our party played in the casino. I wish they would become completely smoke free so that more people could enjoy the casino. There are plenty of pools and hot tubs to enjoy and the spa is very nice. We especially enjoyed the serenity area for adults only. We used the dining room almost every night and for some breakfasts as well. The service was excellent and the food was better than average. The buffets are good, as well as the Indian food and deli. My biggest criticism is regarding the safety muster before the cruise starts. I have been to quite a few but none as ridiculous as this. Upon arriving at your muster station, they would not proceed until everyone was quiet (no cell phone either) and walked up and down the lines enforcing them. So of course that took forever. It was quite warm that day too! Those with handicapped conditions were dismissed first, then one side of the ship, then the other. Made for a REALLY LONG HOT muster.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Our oceanview room was on the main deck, close to the middle of the ship. As ocean view rooms go, it was fairly spacious and clean. Our steward, William, did an awesome job. It was very quiet.
