My wife and I have been on numerous cruises (14+) throughout the world on various cruise lines over the years. This is our second cruise with Celebrity and also, the second on the Summit. The 14-day Canada and New England Tour started in Cape Liberty, New Jersey, across the Hudson River from Manhattan, New York on October 5, 2014. Cape Liberty is a very industrial port but has great views of New York City, the new Freedom Tower and the Tappan Zee bridge.
We arranged our own flights and actually arrived a few days early to explore New York City. We stayed at the Franklin Hotel in the upper East Side. We toured the city using the Subway and our feet, and saw three plays on Broadway. The 9/11 museum is not to be missed.
Boarding the ship was no problem. We got on board quickly around 3 pm. Our room was 7168 towards the stern. This was a good location because we were able to take the stairways to 5 for dinner and 10 for breakfast. Most points of interest are on 4,5 and 10.
The cabin was kind of tight but included a small couch and desk. The veranda had two chairs and a table. The room included adequate storage for two. We got what we paid for in the cabin.
