This was our first time leaving from Jaxport & cruising on the Fascination. We arrived Jaxport at 1:30 & it took us an hour to get on the ship, which wasn't too bad & thankfully they had covers to keep you from being directly in the sun while standing in line outside & there were cooling fans inside. Upon check in, we were told our room was ready, which was nice, so we were able to go right in & drop off our carry on's before heading to the lido for lunch. Our room was in a great location (Interior, aft) & very quiet, but was small & squishy for housing 4 people, but we really weren't in the room long, so it was doable. The comforter on our bed did have a big yellow stain on it which was seen as soon as we walked in, so right away it made the room feel unclean.

The food at the buffet was nothing spectacular, I did enjoy the freshly made pizza better. The ship inside was kept nice for being older. Nothing fancy about the decor in the hallways & decks where the elevators were, but was expected & didn't bother us or hinder our cruise. The crew on board were very bleak. I think 5% of the people actually smiled, or said hello. In fact one time while in line at lunch at the buffet the man in front of me noticed the same thing & motioned with his fingers to his mouth to smile to one of the workers preparing the food. Didn't feel very "welcomed" aboard this ship. The ice cream/yogurt machines were always having problems. I guess they didn't have them cool enough, or they mixed it wrong because at least one machine a day was always runny & making a big mess in the overflow tray. We ate breakfast & lunch on the lido deck. The best for breakfast is the omelet station. Really enjoyed that. Lunch was just ok. Dinner in the Main Dinning room was much better than the lido deck buffet, but if you don't get there for the anytime dining RIGHT when they open, you will have a 30 minute wait, at LEAST! We always liked all the food we were served, but again, the crew could have been friendlier.

The inside of the ship seemed to be kept pretty clean, but the outside, we did notice a lot more trash/food laying around than on previous cruises we've taken. I don't know if it was because there was a lot more kids on this cruise ( it was fall break for a lot of people), or if the crew just lacked in that department, but especially up my the mini golf course, there was ALWAYS discarded food & cups/plates on the ground. There were a lot of "chair hogs" on this cruise as well & rules weren't being enforced about this at all. My son & I tried the water slides one day & walking up the stairs to get to the top it smelled of urine. On sea days, there was a lack of stuff to do for us. There wasn't enough entertainment/activities to do for those that don't smoke, drink, gamble, hang out in the bars. Embarkation wasn't bad & didn't take terribly long. We found our luggage easily & everything was very organized, just hot & stuffy. The port should have the cooling fans like they do during the boarding areas. We will probably cruise on the Fascination again because it didn't damper our spirits about our cruise, but will not be at the top of our list as far as ships to cruise on.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4B

We had an interior room which we shared with our 2 older children 16 & 22 with an over under, which was a queen bed with a pull down bunk over the head of the bed & a pull down bunk at the foot of the bead. Although the room is designed to sleep 4 people, it was VERY crowded when everyone was in the room.
