October 4th, First Day Onboard.

We arrived at the cruise terminal for the Carnival Sunshine right at 9:45 AM. There was no line whatsoever and we walked right in. Once we got through the security checkpoint and got checked in we went to the waiting area to wait until the ship was cleared of all previous passengers so we could board. I had purchased Faster To The Fun so I was excited to have priority boarding. At 11:00 AM we got the green light to board the ship. Boarding was a simple walk through the maze of elevated glass tunnels to the ship and there were no slow downs along the way. My wife had stayed back to board with her mother since she had never cruised before and they had zone 3 boarding. They were on board the ship within five minutes of me. FTTF was of no use as far as boarding quicker.

The ship is big and beautiful! The first day we spent most of our time on deck 9 (Lido) since that is where our room was. For lunch I had a shrimp burrito from the burrito station to the right of the pool on the Lido deck. It was delicious but it had delayed consequences and they were bad, fiery bad if you know what I mean.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8E

Our cabin was great, but I could have saved some money and got a different balcony cabin and been just as happy. I wanted to be on the Lido deck so I would be close to the food, but I would have been closer if I had gotten an aft room on a lower deck and took the elevator up to the Lido. I did like the way the bunks were set up in an over/under style for the kids and was thankful that the upper bunk wasn't over my head as it has been in cruises past.
