First time cruise, my wife and I decided to do it this year so booked Adventure Of The Seas for the 14 nights going to Spain, Madeira, Canary islands and Portugal, first impressions of the ship were good, staff were polite and the food was tasty and plenty off it, pool deck was nice, hot tubs were hot, gym was great, even the drink prices were reasonable no more than you would expect to pay in a nice hotel, the ports of call were good with plenty of time to look around the only two criticisms I have is the compulsory $12 per day, per person charge that they disguise as a tip I say disguise because the definition of a tip is that it is at you discretion there is no such thing as a compulsory tip if it is compulsory it then has to be called a fee or a charge, I believe I should decide what tip I leave and how much it should be, but for my wife and I the worst thing about this cruise was the cabin, we paid extra for what they call a Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom but it really was below par, rust all over the balcony, balcony table and chairs were rusted, discoloured and pealing, (you couldn't sit on them) the cabin stewardess didn't clean the room that well at all, Mirrors, TV, Surfaces were not cleaned, coffee cup marks still on tables after she had been into clean, bits on the carpet after she had supposedly vacuumed, very disappointing, if I was aloud to be in charge of my own tipping and they sorted the cabin situation out I would definitely go again but until then ill pass.
