I will not go on another Norwegian cruise. First, following airlines and hotels, everything is an extra charge above the basic fee. By the time you pay for airfare, wireless internet, access to the indoor pool, excursions, drinks (plus required tips), and service charge, what looks at first looks like a “reasonable” cost becomes an “expensive” one with all that hassle. From now on, I’ll take the all-inclusive cruises which look at first as if they’re more expensive than a-la-carte but in fact aren’t when it’s all done and are much less hassle.

Second, while most of the crew members were nice, and the Norwegian Dawn itself was ok, the overall experience was negative due to all the mindlessness. Some examples—you have to wait for everything. It’s almost impossible to get a dinner reservation at a reasonable time, so you put your name in and wait. (Ok, you have a cocktail while you wait, but remember, that’s extra, plus the required tip.)

You wait to get off—two lines to check out becomes one, backing up everything, and sometimes you wait to get on—only one scanner is on or only one station is open to check you in.
