We are a couple in our early eighties. We have sailed with many cruise lines, each one equal to or lovelier than the last. Then two weeks ago we boarded the Carnival Splendor and were more then disappointed. We choice that cruise because of it's itinerary. I can't say that all passengers felt as we did because there were many who appeared to be enjoying themselves. We also spoke to many who were distressed as we were.
On the positive side: the room with a balcony was lovely and the room stewart kept it immaculate. He was most friendly even though he spoke little English. It stops there. There were many let downs but I will mention the most flagrant.
The size of the ship was twice the size of the last cruise ship we took but the dining facilities appeared to be no larger. As a result there was always a long line waiting to be served. The food was mediocre but more important the service was also. The buffet was poorly run. On other lines you go directly to the food of your choice. On the Splendor you have to go on line even if you wanted a roll. No one uses the purell before dining. We became ill and didn't see two of the four ports.
