I need to preface this with the fact it was our first cruise, we are no strangers to sailing, sea travel and world trAvel but we had not been on a cruise before. Therefore i did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions from small luxury cruise lines. Overall this was a good way to see many places without unpacking a bag continuously.
The disappointment level was quite high. We were on a 6 week trip celebrating my 50th birthday. There was no other passenger on board close to my age. Despite being told the demographic was younger, it was an older crowd.
The ship grew on us, first impressions were that it was tired, a little dreary and down at heel. By the end we came to appreciate the uniqueness of the sails, but it certainly is not pristine.
Not traditionally cool, not chic, not luxurious, a bit blah and underwhelming. As expected on this size ship the cabin was small with carefully structured useful spaces. The bed wAs very comfortable with good pillow selection and nice enough sheets. The bathroom was immaculate with amazing shower pressure and hot water in what we named the space capsule. The cabin was super clean and spotless just a little dreary to spend time in. The steward was helpful and efficient - we bough the laundry package which was great value considering the length of our entire trip. He kept my fresh water bottles coming and worked well around our erratic scheduleThe turndown service was incredibly bad with 3 horrid little chocolates - especially disappointing considering all the delectable port side delicacies.
