This was my third cruise and second time on the Norwegian Breakaway out of New York -- I loved it so much the first time that I had to go back! I previously cruised on Carnival Miracle from New York to the Caribbean. However, I wanted to go to a port for more than one day to explore instead of rushing to get back onto the ship. This was one of the primary reasons I selected Breakaway -- the ship sales from New York to Bermuda and stays in port for 3 days!

After booking, I was able to convince a larger group of friends to book. We live in New Jersey, so no hotel was needed. Each of us purchased the drink and dining packages. As a group, we tried out as many restaurants as we could:

Cagney's Steakhouse was by far the favorite -- definitely try the macadamia nut sandwich as a dessert. We tried to go back here more than once, but it was booked solid. I would recommend booking well in advance if you want a seat! Moderno, the Brazilian steakhouse, was wonderful -- we booked this for three different nights. If you like your steak medium rare to rare, tell your server. He/she can accommodate your specific preferences and bring meat pieces out for you cooked to your liking. Also, make sure to save room, as the sirloin steaks are the last (but best!) meat to the table. Le Bistro, the french restaurant, had a great atmosphere and one of the best duck dishes that I've ever tasted. Teppanyaki, the hibachi restaurant, was entertaining but had some limitations. For example, they couldn't create a fire volcano with the onion rings due to cruise ship regulations. If you do decided to eat here, I would recommend the seafood entree -- my land lover friends were envious. Wasabi was not included in the package (a la carte pricing), but we got a discount and decided to eat here as well. It was OK, as I prefer less rice on my sushi and the kani (crab) they used for the rolls was different than what I traditionally would get at home.
