My wife and I sailed on the September Celebrity Summit to New England and Canada. The reviews I have read on CC have been very helpful, so I thought I would pass it forward so to speak. People who sail alot have to realize when they book the Summit, that it is almost the oldest ship in the fleet. We have sailed on Celebrity close to twenty times, and we have come to know what is expected.

First off, we felt the staff was remarkable, from Captain Leo, who in our opinion was the most visible captain we have encountered, to Staff Captain Alex, to the Concierge Staff: Ashley (Captains Club Host), Erica, and Nadia (Concierges) our wait staff, Daniel and Yovana, Somolier Eren, and Room Attendents Sara and Mickey, were all fantastic. The bartenders at the martini bar, AA and Richard were the best we have encountered, and Billy who serves coffee in the Oceanview Cafe, had the best disposition, and brightened everyone's day. The food was very good and at times excellent. The service in the MDR was just a little slower than usual, but we enjoyed the liesurely meal, and attribute the length of the meals to the fact that our wait staff had responsibility for several "select dining" tables who arrive at different times. We read where someone in their late 50's and early 60's felt like the youngest people on the ship. We are in our mid 60's, and would have to agree that the age of the passengers was on the older side, but we found several people whose company we really enjoyed and look forward to sailing with them again. On the complaint side, I would agree that the bussing service in the Ocianview Cafe was not up to the standard we expect from Celebrity. It was obvious that this was a weakness and noticeably less effective than we have experienced in the past. It might help if Celebrity cut off the early dining requests once they are full. Overbooking puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the staff, and seems to be the most common complaint.

If you want the wow factor, only sail "solstice class" if you want a ship with character and a great staff...sail the Summit!
