After a few year break from Carnival we decided to try them again. The last times we went we had good experiences each time. I guess we should had known it was going to be a bad cruise when the first morning at the buffet they ran out of scrambled eggs and we had to wait almost 5 minutes for them to be refilled. When we were at supper the service again was slow and not very courteous with the waiter putting my wife’s desert spoon in the middle of the table in a rush to serve another table. I had asked for a glass of milk and when I it was served the milk was warm. I asked for a new glass which didn't arrive until I was almost done with my meal. The lunch buffet was closed down before the 2:30 time several days with many people coming down around 2:20-2:25 only to find it closed. Spoke to the one supervisor that we saw on deck about the egg issue and the early closure and his response was that they start closing earlier to have it all closed by 2:30 and that there was always the grill, Deli and Pizza available. The pizza was the worst I have ever had on any ship (10 sailings)! There was no sauce to be had to speak of on the pizza. There was the pepperoni, some cheese, and a crust. Sometimes the crust was burnt.
The food for dinner was mostly hit and misses with more misses than hits. When we did get decent service the food was largely tasteless or cold. On one night a person in our party ordered the prime rib and it came cold. The replacement came out very well done. On another night we waited over 20 min. for a desert menu. One of our party spoke to one of the maître d's in regard to this poor service but nothing really changed. The last night of our cruise was the only night we received decent service.
We ate at the steak house one evening and the service there was good. The price was higher than we paid on other cruises ($35). The food was good but over indulgent as not many people can eat a 18 oz. piece of meat with appetizers and desert. Lower the cost of the meal and cut the portion of the entrees may be an idea.
