While I feel the Dawn is aging, she has a charm all her own. My husband and I did the Barrier Reef Discovery cruise. Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef was on our bucket list. We booked our cruise online with P & O, which proved to be quick and easy. Bookingshore tours was a breeze, and when we entered the cabin our tickets were waiting for us.
Embarkation process was really easy and quick. We were lucky enough to be given priority boarding passes by a lovely lady working there. Embarkation started at 10am and were were in the dining room having an early lunch by 11am. Upon arrival at our balcony cabin, we were greeted by our cabin steward, Emil, who made us feel at home with his lovely smile and friendly demeanor. Our bags were in our room along with our shore tour tickets. Emil made sure we always had everything we wanted and his serivce was exceptional. Our room was very functional, and the balcony was just what we wanted. Maybe a tiny bit small, as it was difficult to move chairs at times. Bathroom was small, as is to be expected on a ship, but was spotless and very clean. Bed was comfy, my bad back problems didn't happen.
The food was brilliant, Salt Grill, amazing, La Luna, fantastic, Waterfront restaurant was great, but felt very portion controlled. Plantation restaurant, yummy. All food was so fresh and tasty. All staff and crew cannot be faulted in their customer service. The entertainment was fantastic, with great singing and dancing.
The cabin was spotless and very clean. Bed was really very comfortable. bathroom small but expected onthis ship. Balcony was my favourite place. Maybe a tiny bit too small,as it was difficult to move the chairs, but I can't complain really. We were midship close to elevators. Very quite, no outside noise at all.
