Traveled with children

We cruised on the Christmas week cruise in December. We heard there were 600+ children on the ship, but honestly didn't feel like we were overrun with them. The ship was nicely decorated for Christmas and we heard lots of carols in the passageways. There were also Hannukah celebrations every night of Hannukah. The ship decor is amazing. I loved all the art deco glass vases in niches on all the stairway landings. We had 15 people in our family group, ranging in age from 4 to 73. Everyone had a blast and we loved the Pride!

We had forward Empress Deck cabins that were clean and well-equipped. We all loved the terry robes and toiletries provided. We brought our own hairdryers and extension cords, as well as night lights. Our cabin stewardess was friendly and helpful. We had the late seating for dinner, and our waiters were great, although I did feel the dining room service was rushed. The waiters served the kids quickly and kindly accommodated special orders. We brought our own wine to dinner, and they were very gracious about opening and pouring it. The Mermaid's Grille is great for breakfast and lunch. The layout makes the lines minimal and everyone could eat whatever he/she wanted. Some of us had room service breakfast in the mornings and enjoyed the food and the service, as well. My kids are older teens and enjoyed the Butterflies lounge and the Beauties dance club. (After 11:30, Beauties is for 18 +).

Those in our group who used Camp Carnival had mixed reviews. The kids had fun, but the activities varied in appeal and some counselors didn't seem to be too involved with the kids. As far as excursions, we did the Dolphin Swim and Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta, which were both great. We booked King David's Stone Island Tour (not a Carnival excursion) in Mazatalan, which I would definitely recommend. In Cabo, we did the Sea Kayaking to Los Arcos, which was also fun. The health club and spa are very nice, and they were always busy! Appointments for massages, etc. sold out by the 3rd day.
