My husband and I decided to take our anniversary cruise in August when my Mom, (who has Alzheimer's) is usually visiting my sister in CT. Well, she couldn't take her, so, we did! Embarkation was quick (because of priority boarding as we had booked the best OS on the ship, the one with 2 rooms!). 5340 was great! The location on deck 5 where so many things were was fantastic! Our room steward was stellar as was the entire crew who we dealt with. The food was good, but slow and we never got to a show. We had ATD which we love and it took a couple of nights to find a great service team. We went to Senor Frogs on Nassau and Mom had a wonderful time. We did the Gibbs Cay stingray adventure in Grand Turk and it was amazing! Because Mom has already forgotten most of the cruise by now, it seems like it might not be a good idea to take someone with her condition (moderate alzheimer's) on a cruise. But she lives in the moment and the joy in her face was priceless. The reason for my "pick up your feet" in the title? Mom is starting to drag her feet in a little shuffle and she kept tripping on the goodies that stick up in doorways etc on a ship. So if I said that once during our cruise, I said it 100 times! Love the Sunshine and would cruise on her again!

My only negative experience was the safety drill. Sardines anyone? And who hand counts a crowd of overheated people outside, while kids are running around? Have a scanner to scan S&S cards and you will have an accurate count and know who is missing.

Cabin Review

Ocean Suite

Cabin OS

This is the greatest cabin I have ever sailed in. A separate bedroom and access to the balcony with a large living room with a very comfy queen size pull out sofa bed. The only downside is the balcony was tiny and although they had 2 loungers, one of which was under the slanted glass and couldn't be used, and one chair with a small table. The overhang was only about 2 feet, so it was hot! No one could look down on us and you had to go to the railing to look into the balcony to our left. We were over the aft dining room and heard nothing for noise at all. Very little vibration when docking or leaving a port. Mini fridge was emptied before we got there so it was great to have. A/C was cold and effective!
