Carnival Splendor is a nice ship that is well decorated inside and out. The crew was friendly and helpful during this trip but the activities on the ship were lacking. More dance classes would have been a great way of spending the sea days with maybe even incorporating a dance competition into it. The food was not as good as I remember in past trips with Carnival. It seemed like the staff was overworked and understaffed as there were long waits to get breakfast on numerous occasions in the formal dinning rooms. On one occasion the waiter never offered orange juice or refilled the coffee. On another occasion at a table with eight people who did not know each other, the waiter just dropped a tray full of bread and danishes in the middle of the table saying help yourself. This is not the type of service I have seen from Carnival in the past and it seems that customer service is becoming less attentive. The food itself was not outstanding. There were a few great dinners but overall, not what I have seen in past cruises.

The rooms were nice with the exception of the beds. The twin beds pushed together to make a queen sized bed were not very comfortable and my wife ofter complained about back aches. The gym and spa was very nice with state of the art equipment. We did take a class in how to gain a flatter stomach and was interested in the products being offered but when doing some research on the Elsium product for detoxing the liver, we found disclaimers from the British company on the products effectiveness that was not talked about during the spa session. We also found that Amazon.com carried the product significantly cheaper in price. This leads me to believe that Carnival is trying to make a ridiculous profit on a product that may not even be effective or healthy. I do appreciate Carnival promoting good health but they should stay in the spirit of helping its customers and not trying to rip us off. Carnival would gain a much more loyal customer if I felt a true effort to promote health and wellness with a proven product and a reasonable price.

My next experience was in the jewelry shop where i purchased a four thousand dollar necklace for my wife. The salesperson was pleasant but when I asked where she was from responded with a rude sarcastic answer. When i returned to pick up the certificate for the jewelry purchase the attendant misspelled my name causing a return trip to the store.
