Overall this was a great cruise. We drove to New Orleans the night before the cruise. We stayed at the New Orleans Marriott Metairie at Lakeway. Got a great price from Expedia on the room, and parking was free. We drove to the port and parked in the garage. It was probably a ten to fifteen minute drive from the hotel to the Port. Seems like we spent more time in line waiting to get into the garage, than it did to get to the Port. We arrived at the Port around 10:45 and there was a line. Probably took us about twenty five minutes or so, to get through the line, get our luggage unloaded and head into the waiting area. I was surprised at how many people were all ready there! It probably took another thirty to forty-five minutes or so to get through the line and onto the ship.

Our cabin was a cove balcony room. I thought the room was a little small, but it has been a few years since my last cruise, so my perspective is probably different than those who cruise all the time. The cabin has lots of storage space for your clothes. The cabin had a bunk that was in the ceiling. We didn't use it so not sure how it works or how much space it would take up. There were only two of us in the room, and I think it would be a little cramped with four persons.

The service was very good. All the staff and crew members were polite. The entertainment was very good. Hennie the cruise director was very friendly and did a good job. I have seen several complaints about the quality of the food on these boards over the last few months. The food was good, maybe not up to "chef" standards, but considering the amount of food they serve at one time, good. We had anytime dinning. Our first night on the ship we ate late, probably around 8:00 p.m. Service was very slow that night. I'm not sure if service was slow because it was so late, or the first night or what, but we did not eat late again during the entire cruise. The rest of the cruise we were in line when they opened the dinning room. Generally, we were able to finish our meal and get to the Encore lounge by the 7:00 p.m. show.

Nice room. Convenient to most areas of the ship. Some of the reviews, talk about noise problems on this level, especially those rooms under the galley. We did not have any noise problems. I will say a big Thank you to Carnival as my first assigned cabin was under the galley. After reading the posts about noise I called Carnival to see about getting my cabin changed. The employee was very nice, and changed my cabin, even though I later learned from my travel agent, that they didn't actually have to do that. So yay Carnival.
