I wanted to say a few things about our trip on the Freedom. My wife and I drove from NW FL to Ft Lauderdale - 10 hours - the Friday before we sailed. We were gonna be sailing with friends so we followed them down. We stayed at the Fairfield Marriot one night, great room and parking for the trip for only $97. We caught the shuttle to the port the next morning, right to the terminal. Check in was a breeze, the wait in the waiting room was long, but we were very entertained by the woman from Carnival watching over us.
We boarded about 11:30 after all three wedding parties, yes I said three, boarded, then the Platinum and Gold and FTTF. But hey, they weren't gonna go without us so no worries. We went sight seeing on the Freedom first. It is a beautiful ship. EVERY SINGLE CREW MEMBER I saw was smiling. Not a rude one in the bunch the whole trip. We were in cabin 9291 on the Lido deck, forward of the pool area. Interior. Nice but small. It was a handicapped accessible room, we didn't need it but when I asked for the Lido Deck that is what they gave us. The bathroom is HUGE! At least compared to our friend's cabin. Our anniversary decorations ( Sept. 7) were up and it was nice. We met our cabin steward IMADE (E-mod-eh) and introduced ourselves. He never forgot our names, even when he was just seeing us in the hallway.
We went to Guy's Burgers. Honestly, I don't get what all the fuss is about. I live in the south, and every one I know that grills burgers at home has more flavor. They were good but not all that. Anyway, we went up on the Panorama deck and watched as we sailed out, about 5 or 5: 30. We ate in the Posh Dining room, early seating. Angelo was our waiter and he also remembered our names, as well as our table mates and everyone around us, the whole cruise. The food was very good, I ate steak every night, sometimes two if I didn't want one of the other entrees. We did the main dining room every night but two. We dressed up for both Elegant nights, but saw a few shorts and polo shirts scattered around the dining room.
This is a handicapped room. The living part of the room was small when set up as a king size bed. There were only two closets, both of them had a shelf half way up making long dresses bunch up. The drawers were smaller than I have had and they were in one of the closets. The "dresser" was smaller also. The bathroom however was huge, designed for a wheelchair I guess. The shower was more than big enough for me and the missus. Main draw back, it's under the waterslide area. Not bad during the day, we were outside anyway. But at night there were chairs being dragged around, then in the morning the chairs were being put back out
