I'm going to limit this to tips that I think are particularly useful or that I have not seen here previously. I will spare you my opinions on the shows, food, etc. We boarded early (11a) from Barcelona on 9/28/14, which gave us time to have lunch, unpack a bit, walk the ship a bit, and get a nap before dinner, as we had flown all night from the U.S.

1. embarkation.. your luggage will be scanned coming into the port building, and then again as you get on the ship. the wine shop in the cruise building told us we could come back down sometime after 3p, when we saw that the ship no longer had someone scanning bags, and could then buy wine and get it on without paying the 15/bottle charge. we tried that as late as 5p, but the ship never stopped scanning.

2. time of year. this is an awesome time to cruise the med. I would never want to go in the summer when these ports (which require a lot of trucking around on foot) are crowded and hot. to my surprise, our sea day (monday) was plenty warm enough to hit the pool, waterslides, etc.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BB

Perfect cabin for two. You definitely want the cabin with the bed by the window instead of by the hallway. They alternate. You can tell by where the curve is in the deck plan which way it's set up. 9157 had the bed by the balcony. Don't get a mid-ship balcony on deck 8, as they have no roof, and jut out, so you have no privacy at all from all the balconies above you.
