We flew to FLL and had arranged for transfer to Rodeway Inn Airport/Cruiseport. I would not recommend this hotel. We called the Rodeway 3 times and waited over 1 hour for pickup. We arrived at 11am and were told rooms would not be available until 3pm. The desk did lock up our luggage while we ate lunch. There is nothing close to this hotel. We ate at the hotel next door, just a greasy spoon bar/grill. We then sat by the Rodeway Inn pool and saw others going to their rooms. When we questioned the desk we were told that we were assigned specific rooms when we booked and our assigned rooms weren't ready yet. We had reserved 2 rooms and when 1 was ready at 2:30. When the desk personnel changed, at about 2:45pm, we inquired again and were immediately given a second room. The showers had mold and the water was rust colored. We took a cab to Las Olas Blvd. (about $15)and walked on the riverwalk, shopped, and ate. Cabs were easy to get, either phone or hail them down. Don't worry about the free transfers. Just get a cab to a nicer hotel. It is only about $15 cab fare to your hotel or cruise port.

EMBARKATION: We had arranged for cruiseport transfers with the hotel but saw that our ship was to be the last taken, and there were 8 ships that day. Even the front desk suggested we call a cab (about $16). We checked our baggage immediately at the curb with the Costa personnel and got in line at about 11:00am. Embarkation didn't begin until after 12:00 and we were waiting in the sun and a light sprinkle. Once begun embarkation was smooth. The ship is very pretty, some may say gaudy, but I felt very Italian. Yes, there are naked statues and anatomically correct male cherubs on the ceiling. We found it quite comical. Some might be offended.

ROOM: We had a limited view balcony. If you sat down on the balcony you couldn't see out. If you stood up you could see just fine over the lifeboat. There was much more storage in our cabin than on other cruises. Don't miss the drawers under the couch. I removed the drink and food items from the frig. and filled with the soda and wine I brought with me. I even saw some cruisers checking in cases of water with their luggage at the curbside. I carried 16 plastic bottles of soda and 2 bottles of wine through checkin in my rolling carryon and wasn't stopped. Our room steward was most helpful and kept our room very clean.
