My wife and I just got back today. Our 2nd trip on this ship but the last was 9 years ago. Grandeur has had a major renovation since then but mainly, I would say, to common areas. We like this ship. It is not too big and it is comfortable. Yes, it is getting older but it is well maintained.
About this particular cruise...We wanted somthing quiet and restful and we got it. There were 4 ports, but 3 of them, Portland, St. John and Halifax did not offer much. Sorry, but they just are not beautiful cities. Bar Harbor, on the other hand was wonderful. Note, we flew by the seat of our pants regarding shore excursions and only took one (St. John trolly tour). If you want to do an excursion in Halifax, book it before you go. There are so many cruise ships in port that you will have little chance of getting on a tour once you hit the port. We did not go to Peggy's Cove but, in retrospect, wish we had. We did a long self-guided walking tour of Halifax that was pretty much a bust.
