There were several troubling issues on this cruise (more on those later). Despite those annoying, frustrating problems, this was the most fun I ever had on a cruise by far. Why? Because the Cruise Directors, Ken Rush and Katy Turner, and the level of entertainment on the ship, were fantastic.
ENTERTAINMENT: A Cruise Director can make or break a cruise vacation and this time they made it. Ken and Katy created a big time fun environment and supervised numerous events which were hilarious and tons of fun. I can't remember the last time I LOL so often. It seemed as if the fun events were going on non-stop 7 days in a row. The highlight for me was the Disco Party on the Royal Promenade where it felt as if the entire ship was singing and dancing together for about an hour. By the way, I never thought a "Sexiest Man Alive Contest" could be so much fun but Katy Turner had me LOL non-stop for an hour straight.
There were several other pleasant surprises starting with the show Chicago in the beautiful Amber Theater on Monday night. They had a LIVE orchestra which was very professional which created a fabulous sound. Every actor was terrific in their roles and the show's timing was meticulous. The theater was huge and the entire presentation was literally Broadway quality from beginning to end. I never expected so much professionalism on a cruise ship. Don't miss Chicago!
Here's a shout out to our terrific cabin attendant Idham, who worked on our stateroom, 12-255. Idham recognized us immediately and always knew us by name. He was quite friendly and he had a great sense of humor. 12-255 is a balcony stateroom overlooking the amazing Central Park section of the ship. It wasn't fancy but we had more than enough room and found it very comfortable.
