Embarkation was great, but we're Platinum so no waiting. Dining room food was awful, raw meat loaf one night and most evenings I could not eat what was in front of me. It was a (extended) family vacation for us and one evening one of the family members got a meal that was ICE cold. Wait staff and bar staff were great. Guys Burgers is always good. Didn't like the atrium....very cheap looking. Didn't like the Lido deck setup at all, although I found its decor pleasant to look at. Do not like that there is only one overcrowded and rowdy pool in which to stand and shield myself and my youngest child from drunk adults playing chicken right where the unsupervised kids are playing in the pool on the Lido. Found the YELLOW sunshine in the pool to be quite humorous, as it looks a lot like urine in the water. Don't like the buffets out in the middle of the floor on Lido. Breakfast was lukewarm to cold every day. People were coming from all directions so it could be a bit chaotic.

I am not big on cruise ship "entertainment" but the Liquid Lounge is horrible. The way the little drink trays are placed between the chairs sets the scene for a perfect "accident waiting to happen." They are right at elbow level so again, a drunk or a child sitting next to you means you have a very good chance of a drink being spilled in your lap. Don't get me wrong...I have kids and I don't have anything against drunks...I like to drink on vacation too! Our balcony cabin had great space for storage. I really didn't miss the fridge. The room steward was very nice. We had beautiful weather every day, and smooth sailing. Debarkation was, as usual, not optimal, but I really can't blame the cruise line for that. I love Carnival, and have sailed on many beautiful ships. I remember thinking, when I was on Destiny for her farewell cruise to Italy, "why are they going to tear up such a beautiful ship?" Maybe I am biased, but I don't think so. When the pool was closed for most of the day on the first day at sea, a guest services manager was rather rude about it when one of the family members went to see when it was going to be opened. I think we ended up finally being able to get in just around time to go clean up for dinner. I did notice a sewage smell on more than one occasion, and only had water pressure/temperature problems one time. On debarkation day I told the cruise director on my way out that I liked Destiny better and she told me to have a nice day.

I wasn't sad to leave the ship at all and I hope no one in the family ever wants to sail on it again, because I will probably pass. Please, Carnival, don't destroy any more of your beautiful older ships to make room for more cabins. I KNOW I am not the only good customer who feels this way. I plan on doing at least two cruises next year and my seven year old will be Diamond status before he learns to drive. I am NOT an unhappy customer, just an honest one. I do NOT like Sunshine.
