It's been a long time since I was on a cruise about 9 years and my last was with Celebrity. Ive seen some mixed reviews about Celebrity, The Summit and the Port of Cape Liberty so hopefully my review can help clear this up for some people.

Cape Liberty Bayonne embarkation port. I live in New Jersey so I might of known what to expect more than some other people. Let me begin with the embarkation process. We had 4 people on this trip, me and my wife in our mid 40's and two girls 20 and 15. We pulled up to the luggage drop off and since we booked late we didn't have our luggage tags. The celebrity people came over grabbed our luggage quickly and we were off to park our car which was right next to the baggage area. This took about 10 to 15 minutes and than went to the station to stand in line to get our sea pass cards. Within another 15 minutes maybe less we were standing in line waiting for the bus to take us to the ship which pulled up almost immediately. Before we knew it we were standing in line waiting for the elevator to go to the lunch buffet with a nice glass of champagne. "Nice touch as always from celebrity" The whole process took 30 to 45 minutes and was never held up at any point. Many people have seen the comments about Cape Liberty and all I would like to say is it's the port your leaving from and no, it's not Florida so you don't have nice palm trees and crystal clear waters to look at. Your in Jersey on an old port with green water but you do have a nice view of the New York sky line. Enjoy the ship when you board and look forward to your destination.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

Cabin 2A

We did pick a cabin with a veranda and this was the first time I had one. On my other cruises I had either a port hole or window. With that being said I would probably never go on a cruise without one. Did I mention we had 4 people in the cabin and 3 of them were women. So when we were trying to get ready I was able to sit back and relax outside with a drink and enjoy the view. So lets talk about the cabin a little more. The Summit is an older ship but nothing was broken. Everything was clean and well maintained so I had no issues with my room. Yes, all cabins are a little tight especially with 4 people in it but the stewards were great. They setup the other two beds every night and put them away during the day which gave us a little more room to walk around. I did see something in a post and I was so glad I listened. Bring a Power Strip for additional outlets. Let me give you an example you have two outlets in your cabin and you have 4 cell phones a hair dryer and a straightener. I only brought one power strip and it was plenty.
