I loved this port. At first I was disappointed as I was hoping for Bar Harbor, but I found Portland charming, and the trip to Portland Head Light gorgeous. I booked an independent combo trolley and boat tour from a company located a quarter mile or so west of the dock and loved it. Beautiful city and great people. We plan to return via land.

Portland (Maine)

I think I would have liked a trip to St. Martins or Hopewell Rocks better, so I suggest booking those if you are going, because there is little in the city. The city was friendly, but seemed industrial and boring for a tourist. Went to the New Brunswick museum and found it boring aside from the whale skeletons.

Saint John (New Brunswick)

A fun port. Went to the harbor walk, the maritime museum, and a duck tour. Biggest negative was that the main dock could only accommodate 1 big ship, so we had to pull into an industrial port and get shuttled over.

Halifax

A standard cabin, all the way in the back on deck 1. Not too noisy, though there was some noise when docking from the mooring line equipment immediately aft.

At dinner, I had the onion soup (not as tasty as the steakhouse one, but at least cool enough to eat), the penne mariscos (good), and the meatloaf (not so good).The waiters were good, but I found it odd that they tended to deliver a few plates simultaneously when I ordered more than one appetizer or entrée, both at dinner and brunch.
