Sail Date: Sep 2014

My wife and I took the September 14 roundtrip cruise from Seattle to Alaska. Overall it was a great trip. Weather was decent for September, we did a couple of nice excursions to Glaciers and enjoyed the overall cruise experience

The Grand is not top of the line for Princess, it is okay but clearly showing its age and not to the same standard as some of the larger or newer Princess ships. I'd say it was our least favorite Princess ship (we've been on the Star ,Golden, Island and Sapphire). That said it was clean, well maintained and run nicely.

Boarding was quick and efficient with limited lines (we arrived quite early). I would say the terminal in Seattle is not great. Compared to San Francisco, the elite waiting area was quite lousy (it basically was uncomfortable stacking chairs separated from the main area by cubicle walls. No coffee or water was offered. This could use an upgrade but part of that is the need for an appropriate room at the terminal.

Cabin Review

Cabin I

We usually book interior cabins (we save the money for other things like excursions). We did so again this time and for the first time ended up with a cabin that had two upper berths. We didn't particularly like this. The berths stick out form the wall and take up room making it harder to get in and out of bed without banging your head or shoulders on the berths. Also, the ladders for the berths take up extra storage space under the bed We would not recommend this cabin and would not book it in the future. Also he closet in this cabin was a bit smaller than others we've experienced.
