We sailed from Budapest to Nuremburg over a period of seven days from 20 Sep. The Emerald Star was a quality vessel and having done river cruises before this was the best. The included tours were excellent and were provided at every port of call using local guides who knew their localities well. I cannot criticise any of the ship staff and our cabin steward Devi was first class. The cabins (ours was 323) were well appointed and clean, the food was varied and plentiful, and the wine/beer provided at meals was of excellent quality and regularly replenished. The stops were amazing although we would have liked more time in Regensburg a beautiful old Germanic town. The history of each of the stops was related to us by each guide who pointed out characteristics and buildings that we would have missed unescorted or have been unaware of their historical importance. The only a couple very minor negative points were as follows. The tea provided at breakfast was weak and unappetising, We did point this out to the waiter who told us that he had put TWO teabags in the pot, this pot must have filled eight or nine cups. Secondly having left home in the very early hours of the morning, flying to Munich where we changed planes, then flying to Budapest, transferring by coach to the ship where we arrived at about 1230ish and famished. We were told that our first included meal was dinner and that if we wanted lunch we would have to pay for it! £2500 pounds each we paid and they could not provide a bowl of soup and some bread at the least.
Clean, well kept and as described in the brochure.
