As seasoned travelers with many cruises, as well as destination vacations under our belt, we consider ourselves pretty open to different levels and styles of service, and did not expect superb service, or food on this cruise. The rate was very attractive so we assumed there had to be some shortcomings somewhere. We were told that MSC, which is very big in Europe, was using promotional rates to entice people to try their ships as MSC attempts to garner some share of the Carribbean market.
First the positives: The ship itself is beautiful with enough glitz without being gaudy. Flow along the decks is generally good with one or two exceptions near the aft where you need to go up a floor then back down to get past a no passage area. The staterooms are comparable in size to those found on most other carriers, and we found them very functional. Almost 80% of the staterooms are balconies, so there is a good chance you could get upgraded to a balcony even though you booked an Inside room.
The cons:
Cabin was comparable to other cruise lines balcony staterooms in terms of size, and pretty functional. One disappointment was the shower which was very tight and one wall would easily snap to a semi-open position when lightly bumped. Due to location of our stateroom, our balcony was a bit larger than most, which was nice. Though friends traveling with us did not have the same experience, our cabin steward was quite responsive and very friendly.
