Our (wife & me) plan as usual on cruises (this was cruise #5), was to get to our cabin, relax and have a class of wine on the balcony during departure from port. That plan went totally out the window when we got to the cabin, the door key card would not work. Could not get in cabin. We were told we needed to go to Guest Services to get the card changed. This happened to a few hundred people on this cruise. The line at GS was from one end of the Royal Prominade deck (main shipping deck) to the other with at least two hundred people in line for the same reason. After waiting an hour+ in line and being about #15 from the desk, they made us all leave for the mandatory safety lecture. After the lecture, back in line for another hour+ wait to get a new key card. Over three hours waiting in line with masses of people everywhere around. All we got at GS was a "we are sorry about this". Not a word, card or at least a free drink from RC. I was pissed. RC blew our plan and made us very upset on the start of a $2000+ cruise. That's not the end.

My wife's major suitcase did not show up at the cabin. We had a message that she must come down to deck 2 because they "detected" something in her luggage. She went down to the non-air conditioned luggage area and they said they "detected" an iron in her case. Irons are not allowed. They made her remove all things from case, and guess what, NO IRON or anything that looked like one. A total waste of our time and upset us even more. Complete incompetence on part of luggage checker(s). By the time we could get in our cabin, we were about 6 miles offshore. The balcony plan (which we have always done on past cruises) was shot and we were not happy campers. If we could have gotten off and got our money back at that time, we would have.

One more word about the Falmouth port. Once you leave the RC controlled shopping area, the place is a dump. Don't recommend walking to far from the RC area. Oh yes, ship feels very crowded (everywhere). If you don't like crowds, this is not your ship. The balance of the cruise was OK, but the horrible first day left bitterness I will not forget. No apology of any kind from RC except for the weak one from the GS person. Sorry RC, you get no more of my money. PS - oh, one more thing. We traveled with my brother in law & wife (separate cabin and deck) and had tied our reservation numbers together on the RC website for dinner seating together. When we got to dining room, they were assigned to Adagio dining room deck 4 and we, deck 3. Had to clear it up with GS to get a table together. Another screw up for RC. Nothing like anything described above has ever happened on any of our other cruises with other lines.
